I’m back adventuring into the College Football betting world again on New Year’s Eve. Last time I wrote about College Football was during Championship week. During that weekend I learned that Washington is ready to compete on the big stage, whether they are ready to win or not I’m not sure, but we’ll see in a few hours. Also, the SEC has played their worst football this season. Does that discredit Alabama’s dominant wins in conference this season? I don’t believe it takes away from how well they have played; however it puts it question can they win in a dominant way on the national stage, but again we’ll see in a few hours.
If this is your first time reading the Flamin’ Four and have no idea what this about or what I just talked about, it’s okay I explained everything in Flamin’ Four – Week 10 Blog. Let’s get to some picks.
Washington Huskies (+14) vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
Yes, I’m picking Washington as a 14 point underdog and I feel very confident doing it. Nick Saban is one of the best college football coaches ever and a lot of focus is focused on him; however Chris Petersen isn’t too shabby himself. If you don’t recall the name, remember back to the 2007 Fiesta Bowl when Boise State played Oklahoma and Boise State won on the Statue of Liberty misdirection play on the last play of the game. Chris Petersen was the coach of Boise State. He is an offensive mastermind that is extremely dangerous when given a month to prepare. Also, it helps to have arguably the best wide receiver duo in the nation with John Ross and Dante Pettis. The explosive offense mixed with their turnover savvy defense will make this a tight. But here is the kicker, USC. Both teams have played them, Alabama won and Washington lost. I understand USC changed quarterbacks and became a new team, although those revealed something. Washington doesn’t have the size and endurance to match powerhouse recruiting teams such as Alabama and USC the whole game and that will lead to Alabama winning the game in the 4th quarter.
Clemson Tigers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes (-1.5)
This Saturday morning the line for this game moved from 3 to 1.5. This makes my pick even easier to make. Again in this game there are 2 great coaches in Urban Meyer and Dabo Swinney. This game will be a classic and there are so many different factors to consider when picking. The main factor I believe is Ohio State’s offensive line versus Clemson’s defensive line. Whichever team wins this battle will control most of the game. For all that, Dabo Swinney doesn’t match Urban Meyer when it comes to bowl season and ultimately that is what leads Ohio State to victory.
Ohio State (41-38)
